Spread love healing. Tell your story. Connect with another’s story. There’s a healing power in unity. Storytelling is emotional, vulnerable and transparent. The information is relatable and an audience connects with the message shared. Sometimes it’s a struggle to overcome sorrow and heartaches. You can feel helpless and unable to cope. But when your soul is receptive to someone’s story that resembles yours, it awakens you to shift. Knowing you’re not alone, you’ll begin your healing process. The healing goes two ways. Goddess, your ideal relationship should not only exist in your head. Often, that is the issue of women who remain stuck on men who make no time for them. They live in the hopes and potential of what the relationship could be. You only have a limited time on earth. That’s too little to live in the “could have’s” or “would be’s”. You have two options. You can have a real relationship with your counterpart. Or, live a fantasy with someone who continuously shows you he’s not into you. Which feels better?

Ah ! Paris, tu me manques ! Paris, I miss you! Last July, my mom treated me to a vacation in Paris, France. I’d always wanted to visit the country and the city. It was a dream; the perfect distraction after I stopped communication with a man who was not available to me. It was key to move on. I met a beautiful stranger who effortlessly showed me kindness. It was instrumental for many internal shifts and changes in my life. He was giving and made sure I enjoyed a pleasant time during my trip. I reflected on how someone I’d known for a longer period always struggled to do the same. I knew I deserved better and that day I woke up. The beautiful stranger reignited something in me that I thought I’d lost a long time ago.

This is a snippet of my story, for now. I know vacation encounters are often trivial. I carry the effect of these changes every day and they help me evolve. But I’m a believer that you meet people to learn something about yourself. They are also to remind you of who you are. It can be a battle to stop a negative pattern. You often find comfort in it even when it’s not good for you. Sometimes you’ll meet people for only a short period of time. The impact they make can last a lifetime. Don’t discount that. It’s part of your journey to heal.

Date yourself. Heal yourself first. Get to know yourself again. Enter a relationship when you’re truly happy ALONE. You should be WHOLE and emotionally healthy. It’s never someone else’s job to make you happy. This can make you set unrealistic expectations which will cause disappointments. These disappointments will hurt and damage your relationship. Your romantic partner does not COMPLETE you but COMPLEMENTS you.
